Publication of the Book “Responsible Tourism: Results that Inspire!”

Challenge

The development of a book on responsible tourism comes at a highly relevant time, when travelers, industry professionals, and policymakers seek guidance on how to navigate responsibly in the complex tourism landscape. There was a crucial gap to be filled, offering insights, strategies, and case studies that shed light on the multifaceted dimensions of responsible tourism.

It was in this context that the Vivejar Institute, in partnership with CETES-ECA/USP and with support from the IDB (Inter-American Development Bank) and the Ministry of Tourism, signed its first publication.

Solution:

In the book, we present an overview of the Responsible Tourism movement and its developments in a light and objective manner. We cover 10 successful Brazilian cases, each with its own unique reality, geographical, social context, and institutional size, sharing and inspiring us with their sense of responsibility and the challenges faced on this journey.

At its core, responsible tourism goes beyond mere environmental conservation; it encompasses principles of social equity, cultural sensitivity, and economic development. The book delves into these interconnected themes, exploring topics such as community engagement, biodiversity conservation, and more. Through a combination of theoretical frameworks and practical examples, the material equips readers with the knowledge and tools necessary to become conscious travelers and stakeholders in the sector.
