We are happy and honoured to close this year with the achievement of two important national tourism awards, which we want to share with all our partners and friends from Brazil and abroad. On October 26, in Ilhabela, São Paulo, Vivejar was recognised as the best Travel Agency in Brazil by the Braztoa Sustainability Awards 2018/2019.
On December 5, we won the 1st National Tourism Awards, held by the Ministry of Tourism, in Rio de Janeiro. Vivejar won in the Local Tourism and Tourism Associated Production category, along with other incredible initiatives. “This award is not just ours. It belongs to all the communities that we work with; to all the brave women who transform these experiences together with us; to Muda! collective, which today works to promote Brazil as a responsible tourism destination and, above all, of all the traditional Brazilian peoples, indigenous people, quilombolas, potters, ribeirinhos, caiçaras, all the communities that we work with”, celebrated the founder of Vivejar, Marianne Costa. “This is our main purpose: to highlight this diverse and inclusive Brazil”.
The Braztoa Awards is the main awards dedicated to sustainable tourism in Brazil and the first in the world to have the seal of the UNWTO (World Tourism Organisation). Since 2012, it has recognised pioneering sustainability and responsibility initiatives in tourism in the country. The National Tourism Awards is an unprecedented initiative launched by the Ministry of Tourism which has recognised personalities and projects that contribute in a differentiated way to the sector.
“These Awards reinforce our energy and the certainty that we are on the right track to transform Brazil into a Responsible Tourism destination,” said Marianne. Vivejar was born in 2016 with the purpose of approaching travellers to the roots and cultures of Brazil, generating social inclusion, income and women empowerment for traditional communities and transformative experiences for all.
