Responsible Tourism: From Conception to Practice

© Açony Santo

Responsible tourism is a tool that can change the reality of destinations and people. Our goal is to accelerate this change by fostering innovation in partnership with governments, destinations, companies, associations, and tourists themselves. We also aim to train professionals who will carry this concept to many other businesses and tourist destinations.

We practice responsible tourism from start to finish, fostering a vibrant community ready to face any challenge.
Shall we go together?

Differentiators

Who we have worked with

The Responsible Tourism course was a blessing in my life; in addition to the complex situation of the 2020 pandemic, I was also going through a period of reinvention in my professional career. I have a Bachelor's degree in Tourism for 18 years, and during all these years I have not found courses that would update me in the world of Conscious Tourism. The Tourism course market only offered more of the same! The Vivejar Institute provided me with an update in the professional area that I love, Tourism, and gave me new ideas, opening my horizons! The facilitators Mari and Gustavo are incredible, having a lot of technical and practical knowledge to offer. The assistant Ana is always very attentive and kind! The group of students that graduated is amazing! We created a powerful network of contacts for the new era of Tourism. If the online classes are already great, I can only imagine what it would be like in person... I can only thank you!

Letícia França (São Paulo - SP)Student of the Responsible Tourism Course

The "Responsible Tourism" course has been excellent. The content is very well prepared, the materials are well curated, the classes are excellent and the time is practical and feasible. The exchange of content, knowledge and inspiration is very rich. I recommend it to all tourism professionals and others. We need to raise awareness of Responsible Tourism in Brazil and the course contributes greatly to this.

Camila Barp (Curitiba - PR)Student of the Responsible Tourism Course

I have completed the first two modules of the course "Responsible Tourism - Getting your project off the ground" and I am already enrolled in the other modules. The instructors are wonderful and demonstrate exceptional knowledge on the subject. I am satisfied and consider the course to be of an excellent level and very low cost. Lots of relevant content. I recommend it.

Daniel Silva (Niterói - RJ)Student of the Responsible Tourism Course

It was a great relief to participate in the Responsible Tourism Course in this chaotic year of 2020. It is very encouraging to meet people who know and want to share successful experiences of a more 'organic' tourism. I believe it is one of the paths to real sustainability. I thank the Vivejar Institute and my colleagues.

Sinara Leandra (Brasília/DF)Responsible Tourism Course Student

I have immense admiration for Mari and Gustavo for their leadership in promoting Responsible Tourism in Brazil. From our partnership through the MUDA Collective and the Embratur Office in the United Kingdom in promoting Brazil, not only has a friendship emerged, but also the hope that public management and private initiatives will wake up to sustainable development. I take this opportunity to congratulate Mari for Vivejar's award at the WTM Responsible Tourism Awards (wow!) for the crowdfunding initiative to support communities, very proud! Thank you for your dedication and for sharing such rich experiences with us! I highly recommend the courses from the Vivejar Institute.

Lilás Nascimento (United Kingdom)Responsible Tourism Course Student

The Vivejar Institute has provided us with incredible exchanges through the Responsible Tourism course and mentoring with many learnings. I have already participated in two modules, and I still have the pleasure of having met and worked with Mari and Ana Rosa! Congratulations, girls! Congratulations to everyone involved and to the wonderful professor Gustavo Pinto! You are doing an amazing job, and at a super affordable price! For those who haven't participated yet: sign up for the next modules! 🙏🌹✨

Hayani Mirianda (Palmas/TO)Responsible Tourism Course Student

The Vivejar Institute is made up of amazing people and professionals who work with a lot of love and professionalism towards more responsible tourism. I completed two modules of the course 'Responsible Tourism Course: Taking Your Project Off the Ground' and purchased the rest because I really liked the methodology, content, and 'instructors.' I recommend it to all professionals in the field and anyone interested in being a more responsible and respectful tourist on their travels.

Priscila Rios Martins (Serra do Cipó/MG)Responsible Tourism Course Student

I only regret that it took us so long to come together for such relevant learning and exchanges as those happening in the Vivejar Institute course. Finally! Better late than never! If you are interested in fair and responsible tourism, this is a great place to be. I recommend it!

Marli Luisa (Florianópolis/SC)Responsible Tourism Course Student

I want to express my immense satisfaction in participating in the Responsible Tourism Course at the Vivejar Institute. At first, it was a course that sparked more curiosity than expectation, but as the classes progressed, the experience, knowledge, professionalism of the team, the richness of the material presented, and especially the clarity and naturalness with which the mentors conveyed the content, brought a feeling of transformation. It brought a new, more human perspective to the vast and wonderful universe of tourism. My eternal gratitude to everyone involved in this beautiful project and to the Universe for guiding me to this path! May this chain of goodness grow and spread to all corners, reaching and transforming as many people as possible!

Cíntia Rainha Crestani (Itapecerica da Serra/SP)Responsible Tourism Course Student

I liked it so much that I decided to do it again. The responsible tourism course was wonderful. Applause for the teachers who understand tourism not because they studied it, but because they wake up, live, and breathe tourism (am I exaggerating?). The classmates always posted new things. The networking was fantastic. I met amazing people. So, I decided to take it again. Anyone who wants to study with interesting people, exchange experiences, and gain a lot of knowledge should definitely enroll in the second group and join me on this wonderful journey of responsible tourism.

Clara Carybé (Feira de Santana/BA)Responsible Tourism Course Student

I have a degree in Tourism and worked in the field for over 13 years. Community-based tourism and responsible tourism have always interested me, but I had never actively worked in these areas. Last year, during an internet search about companies involved in this type of tourism, I came across Vivejar and was happily surprised to learn about the Responsible Tourism Course they were offering through their Institute. I didn’t think twice and embarked on this knowledge adventure that Gustavo and Marianne shared with us. It was an incredible few months of many discoveries and contact with wonderful people who make tourism a true tool for social transformation. Thank you so much to Instituto Vivejar, Gustavo Pinto, Marianne Costa, and Ana Rosa.

Cássia Canuto (São Paulo/SP)Responsible Tourism Course Student

The Responsible Tourism course provided us with incredible moments of experience exchange and highly relevant content. More than sustainability, we have much to learn about responsible consumption and choices, and to understand how each of our actions impacts the lives of others.

Victor Sanábio (Belo Horizonte/MG)Responsible Tourism Course Student

When I first heard about this course, I decided immediately that I wanted to take it, as something told me that this course was different from the others. Learning about responsible tourism was something innovative. I didn’t have a project when I started, and I finished the course with a completed project and a partner. Without a doubt, the course was a turning point in my journey. Each class offered new, deep content and inspiring experiences. Gustavo and Marianne master the topics covered in each module of the course like no one else, and they do so in a clear and engaging way. I am very grateful for all the time we spent together and for the valuable knowledge we gained.

Maria da Conceição (Belém/PA)Responsible Tourism Course Student

The course was a gateway for me into a world of tourism with a positive and responsible impact in Brazil. Seeing so many responsible actions, examples of sustainability, and the good energy from both the participants and the organizers inspired me to create my project and start operating within 6 months. Beyond the inspiration, I built a network of contacts all over Brazil, which is invaluable!

Maria daÁlvaro Fiore (Bombinhas/SC)Responsible Tourism Course Student

The Responsible Tourism course was amazing. I participated in all the modules, and the mentors at Instituto Vivejar are wonderful. They motivate us and show us that we can always do more for sustainable and responsible tourism. I highly recommend taking the course.

Eusilene Sousa Matos (Boa Vista/RR)Responsible Tourism Course Student

The course was inspiring! Especially for someone like me, a Tourism student with no experience in the field yet. Unlike what I've heard in college classes, I learned that it's indeed possible to have transformative, responsible, and above all, respectful tourism towards the destination, residents, and tourists. The course complemented my undergraduate studies, enriched my knowledge about Tourism, introduced me to new perspectives on the sector, presented numerous real-life cases, and featured guest speakers with immense experience. Plus, the wonderful team delivered outstanding lessons every Wednesday! It is with this responsible and inspiring Tourism that I learned in the course that I intend to work!

Rosa Meire Alves Silva (São Paulo/SP)Responsible Tourism Course Student

What can I say about this course, other than that it was incredibly essential and necessary? I always felt out of place within the Tourism field because there's a lot of talk about hitting targets, selling many tickets and trips, but little about the impact on destinations, which has always intrigued and bothered me. I would say that participating in this course was like finding my tribe and made me feel part of something bigger and that I'm not alone. Responsible Tourism fascinates me, and it's high time it became a part of the agenda of major events and the government. There are highly qualified people ready for this and with a strong desire to make it happen. Our teachers and all the students are living proof of this.

Jeisi Rosa (Angra dos Reis/RJ)Responsible Tourism Course Student

The Responsible Tourism Course was surprising! It offered a great exchange of information, tips, and high-quality guidance from very competent professionals in the field. The classes covered rich themes and concepts filled with fantastic experiences, which made us think more and more about taking on the responsibilities to develop tourism activities that go far beyond just being sustainable—it's a new perspective full of opportunities for mutual growth, collaboration, and the involvement of everyone.

Marisa Poloni (Farroupilhas/RS)Responsible Tourism Course Student

As a Tourism undergraduate, I see this course as one of the most enriching experiences of my education. The content was up-to-date, the classes were well-conducted with various essential guest speakers on the topics discussed, an efficient and attentive team, and a class that is undoubtedly carrying this desire for change and action. My confidence in the tourism professional I want to become is stronger today. My gratitude is expressed in the wish for Instituto Vivejar and its facilitators to have a wide reach.

Jakeline Cibelle Santos de Seixas (Manaus/AM)Responsible Tourism Course Student

What to say about the Responsible Tourism course - It's a topic of great importance that I missed in college, bringing the perspective of tourism as a tool for transformation and positive impacts, which is quite distant from the general view of some courses. It was wonderful to be among people who want to make a difference through something we love so much, to see ourselves on a collective path, and no longer alone as I had been for a long time. Mari and Gustavo were amazing in recognizing how necessary this topic is and sharing their experiences, along with the guest speakers who came throughout the modules. I hope more and more people become part of this movement to develop tourism in all its positive potential. Thank you for the exchanges and for the opportunity to be part of this movement.

Camila da Silva França de Souza (Santo André/SP)Responsible Tourism Course Student

Beyond very current content, thought-provoking and out-of-the-box discussions, the way the classes were conducted was very light, spontaneous, and inspiring. The participants were also highly qualified and from all over Brazil, always willing to exchange ideas. An amazing initiative. Highly recommend!

Mariana Rocha (Belo Horizonte/MG)Responsible Tourism Course Student

The Responsible Tourism Course provided participants with insights and experiences about social impact ventures in tourism. Additionally, it is a great opportunity to establish purposeful partnerships.

Tito Tavares (Belo Horizonte/MG)Responsible Tourism Course Student

Seeing the tourism activity come to a halt due to the pandemic, I felt compelled to find new possibilities for the future, and that’s when I discovered the Vivejar Institute. I didn’t hesitate to enroll in the 'Responsible Tourism' course, and from that moment, my life took a turn. Without knowing much, I found myself involved with topics that were almost unknown to me and the possibility of applying them to our tourism here in Ouro Preto. Many new insights provided me with a fresh perspective on old problems. I am still in the early stages of this new path, but each day I feel more confident and certain that it is the right path for the future of tourism. I can only thank Mari, Gustavo, and Ana for the opportunity to join people who make a difference. Thank you all!

Cláudia de Cássia Pessoa (Ouro Preto/MG)Responsible Tourism Course Student

The Responsible Tourism Course at the Vivejar Institute is enchanting! Mari and Gustavo go far beyond theory and bring practical insights from years of experience in the field. I recommend it to anyone who wants to stay updated with the future needs of tourism. Besides a wealth of interesting content, we also built a network of people and incredible partnership opportunities! I’m immensely grateful for the generosity in sharing such valuable knowledge and for Ana Rosa’s impeccable attention, always ready to help us. A perfect score! 🧡

Carol Paiva (São Paulo/SP)Responsible Tourism Course Student

The pandemic brought fear, uncertainty, isolation, and many questions to everyone’s lives, and it had an extremely impactful reflection in the tourism sector. Amidst all this chaos came the opportunity to participate in the Responsible Tourism course offered by the Vivejar Institute. The chance to connect with people, establish networks, debate ideas, acquire new knowledge, and understand the role of tourism professionals as a link in a chain strengthening the activity was stimulating. The experience prompted me to redefine my concepts, understand my role as a professional in the field, and gain new knowledge to approach the activity with greater awareness and responsibility, aiming to develop tourism that is much more than sustainable, but regenerative. Where the connection of people with themselves, with others, and with nature can indeed trigger a transformative process as a whole. Grateful for the welcome, the experience, and the exchange. Success and long life to the Vivejar Institute!

Cristiane Corradini (Conceição do Mato Dentro/MG)Responsible Tourism Course Student

The learning and exchanges I experienced during the Responsible Tourism course were very enriching. Besides all the content presented, meeting people who are seeking a fairer, more conscious, and respectful tourism greatly contributed to my journey. I am very grateful to the entire team at the Vivejar Institute for the shared knowledge and for making a difference.

Kiko Moreira (Itaúna/MG)Responsible Tourism Course Student

Hello, my name is Tereza Heleney and I have been working in tourism for 30 years, always in the receptive market. I am currently the manager at Havas & Walpax, companies with over 30 years in the market that are part of the Águia group. What can I say about the Responsible Tourism course administered by the Vivejar Institute? Above all, I am very grateful for Mariana and Gustavo's generosity in sharing so much knowledge with us. This course gave me a lot of inspiration and opened my eyes in many ways... I am deeply thankful for the opportunity to have learned so much and for showing me how a travel agent is responsible not only for making our clients' dreams come true but also for connecting them to happiness within a framework where Responsible Tourism is the protagonist.

Tereza Heleney (Rio de Janeiro/RJ)Responsible Tourism Course Student

The course from the Vivejar Institute was a journey of learning and connection for Braziliando! We formed a network of professionals committed to a common purpose: to carry out tourism in a more responsible way. It was very enriching and inspiring to hear from people who have been working with this goal in different areas of tourism, which opened our minds to new ideas and ways of acting. Even more interesting was the opportunity to exchange ideas with professionals from all over Brazil who are working to transform how we conduct tourism in the country. These connections translated into commercial partners, clients, and mentors who helped strengthen our work. We are very grateful to the institute for this opportunity for growth and knowledge.

Ana Taranto (Rio de Janeiro/RJ)Responsible Tourism Course Student

Things happened somewhat by chance; I began reading and became very interested in the topic of Responsible Tourism. I already had some responsible practices in my personal life but had never thought about how my professional life could affect Planet Earth. After 20 years working in mass tourism and irresponsible tourism, the pause imposed by COVID-19 made me realize that I needed to change, and significantly so. That's when I came across several courses. In one of them, I met a colleague who introduced me to another who then introduced me to the Vivejar Responsible Tourism Course. It was already underway, and I had missed 3 modules which I could recover by watching previous classes. I was eager to learn in this area, and this course was wonderful. I am just a beginner in the world of Responsible Tourism, but I am passionate and enthusiastic about fighting for what I believe in. I owe all my knowledge to this wonderful course, for the teachings, the exchanged experiences, and all the contacts we had the opportunity to meet. Only gratitude, and let's move forward because the struggle will not be easy…

Poliane Mafra Spitzner (São Bento do Sul/SC)Responsible Tourism Course Student

The Responsible Tourism course was highly beneficial to my education in Tourism and opened my eyes to new horizons. The punctual classes, the team's organization in keeping everything flawless, and their constant interaction with students—clear communication—were crucial. The available materials and emails, as well as the interesting and current topics, were all commendable. Expectations were surpassed. I feel proud to have been part of this first cohort and to have experienced it amid the planet's situation with the pandemic. Congratulations to the institute and its collaborators.

Lorena Adrião Mangas (Belém/PA)Responsible Tourism Course Student

The course is about sharing experiences that are currently practiced, marketed in the tourism industry, and that value the original ways of being and doing of traditional/native communities, achieving a positive exchange of benefits for both the host and the guest. Through the exchanges in this course, I experienced (digitally, of course) the sharing of experiences that create tourism that is genuinely beneficial for the destination and for the tourist, necessarily in that order. To make this a reality, they provide tools for measuring development and monitoring impacts. Highly recommended! 😉

Rutti Cutrim (São Luís/MA)Responsible Tourism Course Student

With an excellent balance between technical content and rich exchanges of experiences, the Responsible Tourism Course offered by Instituto Vivejar provides participants not only with a theoretical understanding of the subject but also with practical tools for those who wish to develop tourism activities responsibly. Another major highlight is the way the Instituto Vivejar team encourages and promotes integration among participants, creating valuable networking opportunities and partnerships that can yield wonderful results! Congratulations and thank you, Marianne, Gustavo, and Ana Rosa, for the wonderful work!

Ana Caldeira (Serra do Cipó/MG)Responsible Tourism Course Student

I received the gift of participating in the training of the first class at Instituto Vivejar on my birthday. It was an incredible experience that opened up a world of knowledge and experiences in the space and time we live in. It made me see how essential responsible community-based tourism (TBC) is for making a difference in the environment we live in. I am Joyce Mendes, Host from the northern coast of Paraná with the Guaraguatá Community-Based Tourism Network. I work with the women who harvest crab meat from the Costão community.

Joyce Mendes (Guaraqueçaba/Litoral Norte PR)Responsible Tourism Course Student

Traveling the world in a different way and having other ways of perceiving it stimulated... That's it... Trips that truly transform. Those who do it and those who go!
